So, what do you guys think? Any theories of your own? I highly doubt this one and, yes, the game definitely doesn't need a remake. Or, this one is the biggest stretch, but, a 3D game more like EarthBound 64, the way the game was originally meant to be before its initial cancellation.

They are remaking the game, both as updated version for the 3DS and to change the potentially "offensive" content. It could be they refuse to bring it over here for these reasons. Nintendo has been known to try to keep a more family-friendly image and localized games have had censorship in the past. With things like the Magypies, the way Fasaad mistreats Salsa, and the part where you sort of take mushrooms, they may be wary of bringing the game over here. Nintendo may simply figure "Why bother now?"

The fan translation was a big success and Nintendo did know about it. Or, maybe it's just taking an unreasonable amount of time, perhaps due to other projects and/or not a lot of people assigned to Mother 3 specifically. Maybe the translation process has only been in the works for a short time. They are working on it and it just hasn't come out yet. So, at this point, what are your theories as to why we still haven't gotten it yet? With the considerable attention Nintendo has given Mother over the years now, they have to be aware of the potential success of Mother 3's localization. But alas, here we are now and it still hasn't happened. All these signs seemed to point to the game finally getting localized, and it especially seemed likely last year with the 10 year anniversary. Over these past couple of years, we had both EarthBound and Mother put on the VC, Ness and Lucas returned to Smash and with amiibos, Lucas was given a special reveal video, and Mother 3 was put on the Japanese VC.

I think these theories may still be on the right track and seemed more plausible years ago, but things have changed now. Now in mid 2017, after E3, I've been wondering what people think may be the reason why Mother 3 still has not been brought to the west.Ī lot of posts I've read over the years seem to think it has to do with EarthBound's original sales, the game's release being too late into the GBA's life, and the fact that it's just been too long now.
